Software Engineer II

PEI, maker of the CrossLink Suite of tax software, is a highly innovative provider of tax software solutions for tax professionals with leadership in high-volume tax preparation, electronic filing, and tax-related financial services. The company is headquartered in Tracy, California with an additional office in Orlando, Florida.

The Software Engineer II position analyzes, designs, implements, troubleshoots, modifies, documents, and enhances software tools and web applications both for internal and external use. This position also supports and maintains reports for use internally by employees and externally by customers. 



Design, document, develop, test, and support software applications for a wide variety of internal and external use cases.
Develop and document software design in a team environment to improve efficiency.
Debug and test implementations to ensure the software functions properly.
Resolve trouble tickets and document actions and resolutions for reference.
Write reports using SQL for a wide variety of applications.
Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to maintain a high level of stability.
Communicate with other department personnel to gather project requirements and verify product satisfaction.
Use professional judgment to resolve problems.
Perform other duties as required.



1. B.S. in computer science, mathematics, or related technical discipline; equivalent work experience and/or technical training will be considered in lieu of a degree
2. 2+ years' professional experience in software development or related field including analysis, design, and implementation 
3. Strong programming skills in C/C++, ASP, .Net, C#, Java, or other object-oriented platform
4. Familiar with Microsoft SQL server and Team Foundation Server 
5. Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and debugging complex programs essential
6. Strong knowledge of development and testing tools and environments, including Integrated Development Environments, Source Control Clients, Database Query Analyzers, Unit Testing Frameworks, Library Frameworks, etc.
7. Proven experience with use of algorithms
8. Ability to work independently or with a time in a fast-paced environment with a flexible, detail oriented, and positive attitude
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills
10. Willingness and desire to work with proprietary programming language
